A Celebration of Life (Memorials, Funerals and Scattering of Ashes)

“A life well lived, is a life well loved”

It is hard to say goodbye to a loved one and care and respect would be the foundation of our work.  As a celebration of life, memorial and funeral celebrant I would make sure that you have a memorable and fitting ceremony for your loved one. You might want something traditional, or you might want something more informal – or a mixture of the two. The choice is always yours. I would give you my celebrant expertise and writing skills to ensure that the ceremony is exactly what you want.

WHAT CAN I INCLUDE IN THE CEREMONY?

“What makes things memorable is that they are meaningful, significant, colourful”

The ceremony could capture special memories, important relationships, their hobbies, interests or working life. It could include poems, or a personal letter or a reading from someone important to them. You might want to include music with a special meaning or is by someone they loved to listen to. I have done funerals that have included classical music, hymns, ACDC, Dolly Parton and rap music. Sometimes a family ask me to wear a certain colour, and I am always happy to join in. In the past I have worn different colours for people’s sporting interests and hobbies or just because it was their favourite colour. I have worn something with birds on it for a gentleman who was a bird watcher and a floral shirt for a lady who was a keen gardener.  These individual touches can make all the difference to how the day feels for you.

CAN I HAVE A CELEBRATION OF LIFE AFTER A DIRECT CREMATION?

Yes, you can. For many reasons, more people are choosing to have direct cremations. They are also choosing to have a celebration of life, memorial of a scattering of ashes event to give their loved one a heartfelt farewell outside of traditional settings. I can provide all of these as a celebrant. A celebration of life or memorial can be held at a venue of your choice such as your home, a village hall, hotel, or a public house and they can be held at the weekend.

It would be my honour to work with you to create the perfect celebration of life for your loved one.

I can also work with elderly or terminally ill people who want to plan for their own celebration of life, memorial, scattering of ashes or funeral ceremony.
