About Me
Karen Delmége
I was led to becoming a celebrant after attending the funeral of a family member a couple of years ago. The celebrant did such an amazing and great job of putting the ceremony, readings and music together that I had to talk to him to find out more. That rich and interesting conversation led me to where I am today – here to provide the important service of being a funeral and family celebrant.
I aim to provide personalised ceremonies for funerals and family events. Ceremonies that genuinely capture people’s stories. I love finding phrases or meaningful quotes or poems to include. These extra, and sometimes small, details can make all the difference in terms of portraying emotions and stories.
I have had a varied career from teaching English, special educational needs and disabilities support provision, family work, fundraising and office work. I am the daughter of a tin miner from Cornwall and the first person in the history of my family to get a degree. This is still something that I am very proud of. I have two lively and funny sons, and I love spending time with them. I am a down to earth person who enjoys the small (and the big) things in life. I enjoy living in Devon and being close to the sea. My background, work experience and personal skills mean that I can listen to people carefully and hold space for them whilst they say what they want from their ceremony – be it a sad or joyous occasion. It is my privilege to do this as a celebrant.
